The behavioristic interpretation of consciousness

Lashley, K. S. · 1923

Finished · Philosophy

Summary

Lashley discusses whether theories of mind can be accounted for under a behaviorist analysis (referring purely to the physical) or require a dualist view, in which the transcendence of mind beyond the physical is not able to be accounted for with objective methods and physiological interpretations. He spends much time arguing that much of what is considered transcendent is not really different in kind than the physical world.
